It has been amazing to transition from the old mattresses to the new. We can continue to give them that clean, dry environment which is so important to good production and good quality milk.
The Biehl family has been farming since 1915. Their farming operation handles a mix of crops including corn, soybeans, and alfalfa across 525 acres, mainly used to feed their own livestock. In 2011, Brad Biehl led the construction of a new free stall barn and introduced the first Galaxy Astrea milking robot in the United States. Today, their dairy operation consists of 130 cows each producing an impressive 95 pounds of milk.
When Brad built the free stall barn, he didn’t have much time to evaluate different mattress options and selected a builder-grade mattress. After 10 years of use, the original mattresses were torn and deteriorated and in need of replacement.
When the need for new mattresses arose, Corner View Farm took the opportunity to engage in a thorough research and selection process, aiming to make an informed decision not only for product quality, but also to find the ideal manufacturer partner. After years went by, we realized it’s time to install new mattresses. This time we had the opportunity to go shopping and get educated on how to select not just the right brand of mattresses but the right partner. We’ve been really happy with our choice. Not just with the product, but with the people who have been here to install and support it.
The cows seem more relaxed and are spending more time lying down. This has resulted in more milk and better quality milk.
