“It is an investment....But when you consider what your overall investment is in the cattle and their performance, you need to give those cattle every opportunity to perform at their utmost ability.”
Adam, MJM Farms
MaxGrip was originally developed to meet the demands of the cattle finishing environment of the past, when average cattle weights were lower, and feed lots had less concentrated traffic. It features a 3⁄4” (0.8") thick, high-traction surface designed to balance comfort, grip, and durability — and it has served producers well for many years across North America.
But times have changed.
With average finished cattle weights increasing over 40% since the 1990s due to advances in genetics, nutrition, and management, producers noticed accelerated wear in high-traffic areas using mats less than 1” thick. The heavier cattle and increased traffic led to faster degradation of these mats, highlighting the need for more durable solutions.
That’s where IRONGRIP comes in.
That extra 1⁄4 inch makes a huge difference under intense hoof pressure. When mats are used in high-traffic barn environments, especially in areas where they bridge over open slats and aren't supported by a concrete sub-floor, they face significant stress. The pressure from the heavy weight cattle can cause the mats to bend or sag, referred to as a “breakage point.”
For farmers, the consequences can be costly. When the rubber mats eventually break or degrade, they can fall into the pit below, which may lead to blockages or disruptions in manure management systems.
With IronGrip, farmers get:
Yes. In our “Stomp Test” replicating 178 PSI (2,700 lb steer pressure), IronGrip lasted over 5× longer:
This makes IronGrip ideal for operations with larger cattle or high-traffic areas.
Slatted Floor Anchoring Innovation
Animat was quick to come down to our facility to design the plan and determine exactly how many mats we needed. Animat has been great to work with. They answered all my questions going into the project.

Animat's rubber flooring provides the cows with a comfortable surface to walk on in their travel lanes, at their feed bunks, and anywhere they move. While they're on our rotary, they stand on the rubber mats, which offers a soft, supportive surface for them to stand on.
