“We chose to go with PebbleTop on the rotary platform. We’ve been very pleased with the performance and how well those mats held up to the amount of cow traffic they get in a year’s time.”
Brock Peters, MVP Dairy
Pebble Top mats are ideal for high-traffic zones where livestock stand for extended periods. The best areas to install them include milking parlors, holding areas, feed rails, parlor decks, rotary platforms, walkways and feeding alleys - places where traction, comfort, and durability are essential. The non-slip pebble surface helps reduce the risk of slips and falls while improving animal comfort during long-standing times.
Regular cleaning helps maintain hygiene and extend the life of your mats.
Remove debris by sweeping or hosing off the surface.
Wash with warm water and a mild, non-corrosive detergent using a stiff-bristled brush or low-pressure washer.
Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
Disinfect using a dairy-approved disinfectant, following the manufacturer’s dilution and contact time instructions.
Dry or drain before reintroducing animals.
Avoid harsh chemicals like strong acids or solvents, as they can damage the mat’s surface and compromise longevity.
Pebble Top mats offer a unique combination of traction, durability, and animal comfort. The raised pebble pattern provides excellent grip, even when wet, helping reduce injuries from slips. Made from high-quality, heavy-duty rubber, they resist curling, cracking, and wear. They’re also easier to clean than deep-groove designs, making them a low-maintenance, long-lasting flooring choice for busy barns. If you need a mat that balances safety, comfort, and easy upkeep, Pebble Top is an excellent choice.
Animat rubber flooring in milking parlors is built to last — but how long it lasts depends on several key factors. Cow traffic, cleaning practices, chemical exposure, and installation quality all play a role.
For example, a 1,000-cow herd milked three times a day results in over 1.1 million cow passes per year. Compare that to just 73,000 passes from a 100-cow herd milked twice a day. Traffic matters.
Cleaning products also make a difference. Frequent use of aggressive chemicals like chlorine dioxide can speed up wear — especially if the mat isn’t formulated to resist chemical degradation. Long-term exposure to oxidizing agents can lead to surface hardening, reduced traction, and premature breakdown in mats not engineered for those conditions.

Animat was quick to come down to our facility to design the plan and determine exactly how many mats we needed. Animat has been great to work with. They answered all my questions going into the project.

Animat's rubber flooring provides the cows with a comfortable surface to walk on in their travel lanes, at their feed bunks, and anywhere they move. While they're on our rotary, they stand on the rubber mats, which offers a soft, supportive surface for them to stand on.
