Founded in 1983, Animat specializes in manufacturing recycled rubber matting and mattress solutions for livestock comfort.
Animat has installed over 200 million square feet of animal welfare improvement rubber matting products across more than 50 thousand commercial agriculture facilities.
Our technicians work with freshly-ground, high-purity rubber crumb produced in our own facility. This proximity enables our team to finely control the blends and quality of inputs. Our R&D team are constantly testing new blends and optimal polymer configurations to increase performance, with a recent breakthrough delivering over 30% increased abrasion performance, now integrated across our rubber matting-line up. Our choice of material not only contributes to increasing durability, elasticity and softness but also makes our mats the most sustainable choice in the industry.
Our rubber compounds are cured under high heat and pressure to bond the crumb particles tightly together into a single, cohesive mat. This curing process is known as vulcanization, and is recognised for its ability to create cross linkages between the rubber crumb that remain incredibly resilient when the final product is exposed to the highest levels of stress and abuse. The tightly packed and locked rubber crumb also creates a non-porous barrier to urine and moisture in a barn environment, eliminating bacterial build-up and enabling easy maintenance and cleaner barn conditions.
Our operations team conducts 100% visual inspection of all mats post-production. Quality is not just visual – all production batches undergo stringent in-house testing for abrasion resistance, density and weight, elongation, compression and dimensional accuracy. All out testing protocols align with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards.
